It was supposed to be an eight-adventure series for D20 Modern released on the web site. The project was slow to start, and we've only seen one adventure, since about January. Recently Waylan Wolf posted this on the WotC boards: "OK, I just got an e-mail from WotC Bob, and to make a long story short, Project Javelin is pretty much dead and no further episodes of Project Javelin are likely to be posted. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... but at least we have an answer to the OP's question." "Without getting into too much detail, option 3 is the closest. I'll just say this much... if the adventures were ready for publication, the Modern Web Team would have posted them already. It doesn't do them any good to sit on finished products that they have already paid for... so they must be unfinished in some way... I can't really say any more." Option 3: "3. Way back in early '04 I submitted 3 semi-linked high-level adventures (a grouping I called "The Professional") and the final one STILL hasn't been posted. For a while the problem was editing, then cartography. I got paid, so it's really neither here nor there ... except for the wanting to share my self-described "genius" with the world. I hope that they'll EVENTUALLY post "A Final Warning" ... but who knows. I THOUGHT that it was being delayed so that Project Javalin could take center stage ... but that now it seems as though those adventures have fallen prey to the same mysterious problems. Oh well. DnD has an implied setting. (I don't mean Greyhawk, I just means swords and sorcery.) Modern does not. It sort of had three campaign settings to start, too bad none of them were Dark Matter. "The Golden Rule: It is easier to make a mundane game fantastic, than it is to take the pizazz out of something that is over the top." This came from COPUS Chief, and I think it applies. IMO, it's not a good idea to put out an FX heavy adventure, then put a blurb about "how to remove the FX".
